In Code 195, it clearly cites, If a son slaps his father, his hand shall be subvert off. This law was executed to create punishment for disobedience and disrespect by a son to his father. This law places harsh cruelty on a untried person. If a young mans hand is cut off, he result be severely disadvantaged and non be able to work as hard as he could with two hands. This law not only stomachs a young person, but also hurts the family because the son impart not earn as much money for his family. Hammurabi should consider cut down the penalty imposed for this offense. I suggest that the law state that a son shall be beaten if he slaps his father. This agency the son is punished for being disrespectful, but is not for good hurt. This change will have the same effect as if the sons hand were cut off because the son will know that if he does this action he will be punished.
This law will still provide a punishment for the sons actions and will hopefully hamper a son from being disrespectful. If the son does this action, however, he will be punished
We live in a very civic and fair society and it makes sense not to harm children in any way. It is important to teach our children that they must obey and launch respect, but this should be done in a mightily way. Our children are very important to us and we should not hurt them.
