Not seeing their parents together can have an enormous effect on them. The younger the child is the less they know and understand. The older the child is the harder it will be to cope with divorce.
Children are old enough to understand that they are in pain because of their parents divorce but, they are withal overly young to understand or to inhibit their reactions to this unspeakable pain. They whitethorn experience many emotional problems, including embarrassment, resentment, and intense anger . Their strength of being social and being actively involved in play and activities with other children may help them cope with the horrible situation going on at home.

Young children play to believe that they are the reason for their parents divorce. They start to notice like they could have prevented the divorce in some way.

Teens also experience a wave of emotions such as anger, fear, loneliness, depression and guilt. Teens may try to take control over the family in response to the parents low energy direct and high stress level. Others feel a loss of agnate support in handling emerging sexual feelings.
