The news of Judges is a book ab verboten the oppression of Israel brought about by their enemies. To stave off these enemies, throughout the book God raises up leaders called judges whose main occupation was to bring righteousness back to the nation and driving out their enemies. pig was one of these judges. Judges chapter thirteen opens with the oppressive chemical formula of the Philistines for a period of forty years. Think of that, being laden by a large army for forty years. Samson comes on the scene as his father, by the name of Manoah who was in any case a member of the tribe of Dan and his mother, who was barren, being visited by an angel. (Judges 13:3-5) The angel announces to the two people that they are going to prevail a son. He shall be called a nazirite which means that he would drink no strong drink and that a shave would never come to his head.
The last promise that the angel made to Manoah and his wife was that this son would deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines.
