The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin is a earnest literary piece which grabs the
readers feelings as tumesce as their minds. Although the story is short, it is very complete,
and every word written, carried lately sense and very deep meanings. The main character
Mrs. mallard begins to have a sense of joy and happiness in her carriage, and the beginning of
laxdom, but like all good things, it must come to an end.
At the start of our story, we find Mrs. mallard traffic with her day to day life as a
wife, non as happy as a wife should be, that is dealing with heart trouble and the news of
her economises toss being brought the her as gently as possible. Her babe Josephine
and husbands friend Richards, bring her the horrible news, that could easily worsen her
illness. At this point, the reader would expect her to become overwhelmed and deep
saddened upon auditory modality the news of her husbands passing. Yes, she wept at erst with
sudden, wild abandonment, but that was just the initial feelings from hearing the news,
without deep understanding of what just happened and how it was about to change her
life forever.
As we continue to read on throughout the story, Mrs.
Mallard starts to become aware
of her approaching freedom. We find her going into her room, look out the window,
staring at roof tops, the patches of blue toss out, watching to people on the streets below, all
while doing it from her big, roaring armchair. As she reflected on her life with her
now deceased husband, whom she tell she loved sometimes, her chest began to rise
and fall as new life began to creep into her from the heavens. As the thought of freedom
began to overcome her, she then begins to whisper out loud, free, free, free. She was
being freed from being a young housewife who never got the chance to enjoy life. Free
